Don't Let Our Confidence Threaten You

Artist Statement
This print was created using two lino plates. I placed them together to create a mirroring-like composition. Throughout history, confident Black people are often seen as arrogant or hostile. As a child, I was told not to dim my light because certain people were threatened by it. My intention is for the viewer to recognize their emotion or question their bias. Do they feel threatened? Why? This print is part of my series, "Decriminalizing the Fabric."
