Alices dress was made from a 60 year of Mother of the Bride Alice wore the dress once and store it in the closet. I became the owner and decided it needed to be a homage to Alice and her love of fine fabrics and quality fashion. This silk satin dress and coat was made with the finest couture details. The hand beading was still completely intact 65 years later. I took the dress and coat, completely deconstructed it. Some of the shapes are exactly as they were removed from the garment
Alice was a child of the depression, rarely had anything nice as she had to wear her older brothers closes. She went on to become a model in the late 1930’s and love beauty things. Working on the piece allowed me to explore the complicated mother/daughter relationship.
